Road Trip, Part Two

How Ian Got His Groove Back

Happy New Year, Everyone!

And just like that, 2011 comes to an end.

I've gotten older, every year's end comes quicker and quicker than the last. I know that's what everyone says, but I find it to be too true. I'll give 2011 this: it sure was a helluva lot better than the past few years (can I say decade? I think I can.). In fact, I realized this: I didn't get anything spectacular for Christmas. No fancy electronics, no super-collectable figures, no new games or clothes or money, none of that. I even had to work Christmas Eve and Day. But I realized that my year has been so significantly better, that I'm happy with it. I couldn't have ended it better, actually. 7 art shows, culminating in an Art Basel gallery show? Yeah, I'll take that over WWE '12.

...Although you could get that for me, if you want. I ain't gonna turn it down.

2012's shaping up to be a good one, too. I have my first ArtHeart show lined up for the end of January, the monthly Art Blog Sketch Attack art blog that I'm taking part in, and, hopefully, other great opportunities. And, while I'm behind on my Art Journal entries, I'll get them all caught up after New Year's, as well as attempting to post a sketch a day.

Anyway, I hope you all have a fun, satisfying, and safe New Year's tonight, and I wish you all the very best in 2012.

You know, before that whole end-of-the-world thing.

Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas!

From my Facebook page:

Aight, so I just woke up, and my eyes are still 75% closed, but it's time to get serious for a minute.

(I always get this way around the holidays.)

This year has been so markedly different from the past few years. Those of you that know me and what I've been through know what I mean. I've had the fortune of doing multiple art shows this year, literally spanning across Florida, and culminating at Art Basel this month. I want to thank those of you who have been supportive of me this year; you will never truly know how much I love and appreciate you for it. I try not to ask for much, but all I really want for Christmas is for my friends and family to continue to be the amazing people that they are.

Oh, what's that, Santa? They ain't stoppin' that anytime soon? Awesome!

And to those of you who are newer in my life, or those of you who I don't communicate with as much, be good to each other. Help each other when times are rough, encourage each other during new endeavors, and inspire each other to be better people. It's all free, so why not?

I really gotta go brush my tooth, so I'ma wrap this up by saying, again, thank you all so much for everything, and have a very Merry Chrismukkah.

...Message me for where to send food.

I'm showing at Angaelica at Art Basel!

Sorry for being gone for so long, but I've got good news:

Click here for the official Angaelica website.

I'm showing at the Angaelica at Art Basel show!

I'm so excited for this, you have no idea! I'll be showing a couple of existing pieces, as well as two new pieces I did for the show. I saw some of the work there, and it looks like it'll be a great show. Also showing at this event are Kristin Frenzel (illustration) and Monica McGivern (photography), but of whom are amazing, and worth checking out.

I'll be there tonight around 9:30ish, and on Saturday throughout the day (that's my day to breathe deep and take in all the artwork). Here's directions to the event:

  • Take I-95 to I-195 East.

  • Get off at North Miami Avenue, Exit 2A.

  • Turn right, and head South on North Miami Avenue.

  • Turn right onto NW 21st Street.

  • Turn left onto NW 1st Avenue.

  • It's on the corner of NW 21st Street and 1st Avenue.

  • I hope you all can come out, because it looks like it'll be a great show!
