Key to Life #8

"Keys to Life" is a series I decided to write, based on all the little personal rules and philosophies that I adhere to. This isn't meant to sound preachy. I just feel like sharin' them, that's all.

Key to Life #8:

Everyone's Good at Something

If you've seen my Artists Exchange page, then you know that I know a fairly good amount of artists. Today, my friend John called, asking some advice about an art piece he's working on. He's trying to get into it more, which I fully encourage. As we were talking, some of the illustrators on that page came up, and he said that they were amazing, and made him doubt in his abilities. I responded with this sentiment: Everyone is different. Every artist has their own style. Yes, some of us may have done similar pieces, but each one has its own unique qualities, and can be appreciated for what it is, individually.

I really do believe that everyone is good at something. It could be drawing or writing or cooking or mathematics, but there is something inside of each and every one of us that we just own the hell out of. My advice is to remember that.

And if you say that you aren't good at something, you're wrong. You just haven't realized it yet.
